track.easterbunny.cc was a seasonal Easter Bunny Tracker that I ran from Easter 2019 to Easter 2024. Spanning five years of development, it was the largest project of my career.
Going from a basic website to a fully featured web app enjoyed by over 100,000 people for four Easters in a row, I pushed myself and my engineering skills every year to add new features and improve the tracker. Development spanned numerous engineering disciplines - frontend, backend, infrastructure, SEO and social media management, all done by myself. This pushed track.easterbunny.cc to genuinely be one the best seasonal trackers on the planet.
Through its lifetime, track.easterbunny.cc garnered just over 500,000 hits for the six Easters it was running - making it the largest reaching project I’ve ever made. It was visited from over half the countries on Earth, and at peak, clocked 287 hits in a minute during Easter 2024.
Ultimately after Easter 2024, I decided to shut down the tracker due to the high costs of running the tracker without ads, plus the time commitment involved in running it each Easter. Nonetheless, track.easterbunny.cc is open-source, so the legacy of all the innovations that I made can continue onward as people use the codebase to make all sorts of amazing creations.
